At a winter game on Saturday, right-hander Lucas Giolito of Studio City Harvard-Westlake was clocked by several scouts throwing a fastball at 99 mph on their radar guns, according to Coach Matt LaCour. The school radar gun had him at 98. He averaged 96 mph.
And what’s scary is that Giolito isn’t close to 100%. He’s just starting to get into shape. He pitched two innings against Santa Monica.
Asked if he’ll reach 100 mph in the spring, LaCour said, ‘I have a feeling we’re going to see that at some point.’
Above is video of Giolito from last spring.
