La Verne Lutheran and Compton enjoyed playing in San Diego so much they didn’t want their final game in the Torrey Pines tournament to end. They played four overtimes on Friday before Lutheran won, 98-95.
Grant Jerrett scored 35 points for Lutheran. Victor Robbins scored 30 points for Compton.
Robbins sent the game into the first overtime with a three-pointer. Jerrett sent the game into the third and fourth overtimes with shots.
‘It was a great game,’ Compton Coach Tony Thomas said. ‘Each team made tough shot after tough shot.’
Compton is 7-7 and could be a Southern Section Division 2A title contender.
