The Southern Section Executive Committee voted Saturday in Palm Springs to recommend supporting a Southwestern League football proposal that would allow all 10 sections to participate in postseason CIF bowl games and return the schedule to a maximum 15 games beginning in 2013.
The proposal will be voted on by the Southern Section Council next month, and if it passes, it will be sent to the CIF Federated Council for consideration. Starting this fall, there will be regional bowl games and a possible 16-game schedule.
The Executive Committee took no position on a proposal by the Trinity League to remove any mention of ‘athletically motivated transfers’ from the Southern Section and CIF rule books. The proposal will come up for voting at the Council meeting next month.
