The Western League has been dominated by Palisades and Westchester in recent years, but Hamilton (7-0) and L.A. University (10-1) have performed well in nonleague games, so the start of league play next week could be quite interesting.

Hamilton has one of the league’s best pitchers in Marc Huberman, a senior who’s 2-0 with two saves.

Univesity has played a much stronger schedule than Hamilton and could be a contender to win the City Section Division II championship.

University opens league play on Monday against Westchester.

Palisades remains the favorite even though the Dolphins are 3-4 because their schedule has been much tougher.
