Girls’ basketball: Laguna Hills earns trip to Sacramento

No. 2-seeded Laguna Hills knocked off No. 1-seeded San Diego Mission Bay, 75-69, in the Division III Southern California Regional final for girls’ basketball at the Citizens Business Bank Arena.
Laguna Hills (26-8) will play Bishop O’Dowd in Saturday’s 1 p.m. final at Power Balance Pavilion.
Celia Marfone scored 28 points and Anna Mumm had 20. Maddy Ziering-Smith contributed 11 assists. Laguna Hills shot 48% from the field.
Briteesha Solomon had 28 points and Keyahndra Cannon 19 for Mission Bay.
Marfone scored 16 points in the second quarter after not scoring in the first quarter. She has signed with UC Davis.
‘That girl is awesome. That girl can play,’ Mission Bay Coach Sa’de Wiley-Gatewood said.
