On Sunday, the 13 pitchers from JSerra probably slept in until noon from exhaustion. What a week and what a season it has been for the Lions.
They’ve played in eight extra-inning games. Last week. there were 10-inning games against Servite on Wednesday and Friday, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday against Riverside Poly that resulted in a nine-inning first game and a second game that was decided, 8-7, in seven innings.
Coach Brett Kay said he used all 13 pitchers on Friday and Saturday.
JSerra (11-8, 5-4) holds down third place in the Trinity League, and when the Division 1 playoffs begin, no team will know how to deal with extra innings better than the Lions.
