There was no winning debut for first-year St. Paul Coach Elijah Asante, who left Carson to try his success at a private school.
La Mirada used a series of big plays to beat St. Paul, 55-28.
La Mirada had kickoff returns of 97 and 98 yards for touchdowns, plus an 80-yard run. Johnny Hills rushed for 208 yards and Adam Carrasco rushed for 111 yards.
St. Paul faces Santa Ana Mater Dei on Friday.
