Huntington Beach Edison and the Sunset League were moved out of the Pac-5 Division this season, but the Chargers will get their shot at three Pac-5 teams in a row _ Servite, Mater Dei and San Clemente.
‘We play them because we want to play them,’ Coach Dave White said. ‘We’ll find out our weaknesses quickly.’
Edison is 2-0 but its offense has been struggling with only one returning starter.
Its opponent on Friday, Servite, has had two weeks to prepare and has a new offensive coordinator in Jim O’Connell, a former head coach at Tesoro.
It’s already an exciting season for White, whose son, Garrett, is a receiver on the freshman team. He caught eight passes and a touchdown in his first game and three more catches in the second game. The two drive together to school each morning.
‘He’s still talking to me,’ White said.
