The football season for Los Angeles West Adams’ varsity and junior varsity teams has ended after school administrators announced that they will forfeit the final two scheduled games, against Crenshaw and Dorsey.
John Aguirre, the City Section assistant commissioner, said the school cited a lack of players due to injuries and academic ineligibilty for the decision. Earlier this season, West Adams forfeited a game against San Marcos Mission Hills.
West Adams is 0-7. The big question is when will the City Section and parents hold the West Adams administration responsible for the deterioration of its football program?
Only a year ago, West Adams finished second in the Coliseum League. Then the administration got rid of its coach, Russell Shaw. And now there are not enough players to play.
Aguirre said the City Section rules committee will review the forfeits and decide whether the school should be sanctioned.
