Fallbrook
A Fallbrook High School student who claims his First Amendment rights were violated when he was suspended for publishing an underground newspaper has filed a $9.6-million claim against the school district. The claim was filed last week on behalf of 16-year-old Daniel Gluesenkamp. Gluesenkamp, editor of the publication, is represented in the case by Robert DeKoven, a La Jolla attorney and a former student body president at San Diego State University. The principal of Fallbrook Union High School suspended Gluesenkamp for five days shortly after the 20-page tabloid--”The Hatchet Job”--appeared on the campus Sept. 24. Principal Henry Woessner said the boy violated policy by not letting administrators review the publication before its distribution on campus.
