Local News in Brief : Simi Valley Bicyclist Hit by Motorcycle, Dies
A bicyclist died after he was struck on winding Santa Susana Pass Road in the mountains above Chatsworth by a motorcyclist who veered to the wrong side of the road while rounding a curve, the California Highway Patrol said.
Benjamin McIntyre, 20, of Simi Valley was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m. Sunday at Northridge Hospital, where he was taken after the 10 p.m. accident Saturday.
The motorcyclist, Dean Martin, 30, of Chatsworth, was traveling 50 to 55 m.p.h. in a 45-m.p.h. zone and was charged with felony drunk driving in connection with McIntyre’s death, CHP officer Michael Morrissey said.
Martin remained in Northridge Hospital on Sunday for treatment of minor injuries.
