House Bill Would Limit Exports to South Africa

Washington — Rep. Howard L. Berman (D-Studio City) introduced a bill in the House Monday banning U.S. exports to South African military and police and halting computer sales to the country because of its racial segregation policy.
The 28 co-sponsors include six California Democrats: Julian C. Dixon of Los Angeles, Mel Levine of Santa Monica, Matthew G. Martinez of Monterey Park, Augustus F. Hawkins of Los Angeles, Don Edwards of San Jose and Edward R. Roybal of Los Angeles.
