Santa Monica
The City Council has unanimously approved an ordinance to reduce the maximum noise limit at the Santa Monica Airport from 100 to 95 decibels.
The ordinance establishes a two-year experimental program during which the city will study the noise made by different kinds of airplanes. After two years, airport officials will compile a list of aircraft that would be prohibited at the airport because they cannot conform to the noise limit. Lower noise levels may also be set for different kinds of aircraft.
