Prep Soccer ROUNDUP : Chaminade Boys Tie La Salle, 0-0
Chaminade High posted its fifth consecutive shutout, sort of, but it was only good enough for a 0-0 tie in a Santa Fe League boys soccer game against La Salle Friday.
La Salle, the top-ranked team in the Southern Section’s 1-A Division, had won 13 consecutive games this season going into the game. Chaminade’s overall record is now 9-4-1. Both teams are 3-0-1 in league.
LA Baptist 11, West. Christian 0
LA Baptist High kept rolling along Friday, knocking off Western Christian, 11-0, for its 20th straight Alpha League win over a three-year stretch.
The 11 goals were a school record for the Knights, who are 5-0 in the league and 10-2-1 overall. Doug Brown, a senior forward, led the scoring with three goals.
Craig Reisgen and Dave Fursman each scored two goals during a 7-0 first half. Kevin Eden and Glen Schaumloeffel shared the goalie duties for LA Baptist and had to fend off only two Western Christian shots on goal.
Western Christian fell to 2-3 in the league.
Chaminade 3, Saugus 0
Debbie Baumgartner scored a goal in each half to help Chaminade High improve its record to 4-4-2 for the season. It is 1-1 in the Golden League. Erika Vote, a sophomore, scored the other goal.
The winners made 21 shots on goal. Chaminade’s goalie, Mitzy Dito, stopped 12 shots for the shutout. Saugus is now 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the league.
