Industrial production in Belgium fell 4.1% in October from September, but was still 2.5% ahead of the level in October, 1983, the National Institute for Statistics reported.

The government agency said the monthly decline was largely caused by a downturn in construction.

Industrial output in Belgium is picking up gradually with only a few sectors of the economy lagging behind, it said.
