A PG&E; affiliate made an offer to G. D. Searle.
Angus Chemical submitted an undisclosed offer for Searle’s NutraSweet business, according to Roger E. Secrist, chairman and chief executive of the Northbrook, Ill., specialty chemical company. Angus is 42% owned by Pacific Gas Transmission, a unit of San Francisco-based Pacific Gas & Electric. The offer was made by Angus, Pacific Gas Transmission, Alberta Natural Gas and another unidentified investor.
