Passenger Killed as Cars Collide at Orange Crossroad
A Garden Grove woman was killed Sunday night in a two-vehicle accident in Orange involving a motorist who was subsequently arrested on charges of drunk driving, authorities reported Monday.
The county coroner’s office said Irene B. Bilyer, 75, was pronounced dead at UCI Medical Center in Orange shortly after the 7 p.m. collision at the corner of Walnut and North Lemon streets.
Police Sgt. Mike Skogh said Bilyer was a passenger in a car driven by Edyth M. Lamb, 49, also of Garden Grove. Lamb’s car was traveling west on Walnut when it was hit broadside by a vehicle driven by Luom Van Le, who was traveling south on North Lemon.
Neither Lamb nor Luom was seriously hurt.
Skogh said Luom was booked on felony charges of drunk driving and manslaughter and remained in custody. He had not been able to make the unspecified bail, Skogh said.
