A physical therapist convicted of sexually molesting a 4-year-old girl while a policeman watched the attack from a closet was sentenced to eight years in state prison. Siskiyou County Superior Court Judge James Kleaver imposed the maximum penalty, saying the therapist, Kenneth Campbell, 54, of Redding, violated his position of trust. Kleaver also said that Campbell apparently planned the molestation of the child, a cerebral palsy victim and therefore, the judge said, extremely vulnerable. Defense attorney Jeffrey Jens sought a three-year sentence, probation and release of Campbell on his own recognizance. Jens argued that his client had an “insignificant criminal record,” that the victim was not otherwise injured and that Campbell is no longer a licensed therapist. The molestation occurred Feb. 28, 1984, at the Siskiyou Child Care Council in Weed.
