Renault Truck Unit Plans Layoffs, Unions Say
Associated Press
PARIS — Renault Vehicules Industriels, the truck-building division of the state-owned Renault Group, intends to trim its work force by 2,600 workers this year, union officials said.
They said management of the money-losing unit had scheduled a meeting with union officials next week to discuss the plan.
The union, Confederation Francaise Democratique du Travail, said documents it had been given by management ahead of the meeting revealed plans for reducing the work force by dismissals, early retirements at age 55 and attrition.
