Rancho Alamitos 57, Santiago 43--The Vaqueros’ superior height gave them the edge they needed to defeat the Cavaliers at Rancho Alamitos.
Rancho Alamitos (5-1 in league) was paced by junior guard Roger Carter with 14 points and senior forwards Ruben Patton and John Hong who had 11 points each. Hong, who scored eight points in a row early in the third quarter, sparked the Vaqueros, who went on to outscore the Cavaliers, 18-10, in the third.
Santiago (2-4 in league) was led by senior forward Darryl Curry’s game-high 21 points, 11 of which came on free throws.
