Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant’s Unit 1 reactor was restarted and brought to 2% capacity after a monthlong inspection of its main turbine generator system, officials said. The reactor at the coastal plant near San Luis Obispo had reached 50% power during a testing period which began last November and ended Jan. 5, said Ron Weinberg, spokesman for Pacific Gas & Electric Co. The goal in the second round of testing is 75% of the unit’s 1.1 million kilowatt capacity, Weinberg said.
