HP-Genenchem launched its first product.

Called Titercalc, the new product from the San Francisco-based joint-venture company is an $8,300 hardware and software system that enables laboratory personnel to more quickly and accurately perform biological analyses. Currently, workers spend an average of 90 minutes on such data processing, which includes transcribing and analyzing data from automated plate readers immersed in fluid. Titercalc reduces this time to less than two minutes by eliminating the manual transcription of plate readings. HP-Genenchem, which makes instruments for bioengineering labs, was formed in July, 1983, as a joint venture between Hewlett-Packard and Genentech.
