25 Seized in Costa Mesa Protest
Twenty-five protesters who temporarily blocked a bus carrying delegates to a military and defense industry convention were arrested early today and booked into the Orange County Jail for obstructing a public driveway.
The protesters, all members of an anti-nuclear group, gathered at the Westin South Coast Plaza Hotel in Costa Mesa to picket before delegates attending the annual gathering of the Winter Convention on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, which is charting plans for future military weaponry. Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Richard de Francisco said 22 of the arrested declined to be released on their own recognizance and remained at the Orange County Jail.
