Dance Lovers Only Lives Up to the Name

One of the more appropriately named singles groups, Dance Lovers Only, is designed--not surprisingly--for people who love to spend time on the dance floor. More specifically, it’s for those who enjoy learning and mastering new dance steps, explained group director Nick Sidoti. “Each week I teach a different dance until we’ve gone through every one of them,” he said. “Then we’ll take a specific dance and just work on that for a whole month so they can get much better at it. After each lesson, we dance to records and tapes.”

Sidoti said the group, which formed last September, follows this pattern each Tuesday night. Dance Lovers Only also meets Friday evenings, when the lesson concentrates on West Coast Swing and is followed by dancing to a live band. In addition to these semiweekly dance sessions, held at Westminster Lanes’ Kings Table Lounge, Sidoti said, the group occasionally gathers for other activities: “Sometimes we’ll get together and go to lunch or brunch, or just take off to another club to go dancing. Dancing is really the catalyst we use to get people together.”

Sidoti said anyone interested in dancing is welcome to attend the group’s dance sessions and other functions. The cost for the lesson and dancing, which start at 7 p.m. each Tuesday and Friday, is $2. The Kings Table Lounge, inside Westminster Lanes, is located at 6471 Westminster Blvd., Westminster.
