$32,000 in Damage Blamed on Sprinkler
Amalfunctioning sprinkler head resulted in $32,000 in water damage to three floors of a 16-story Sherman Oaks Galleria office building early Sunday morning, according to a Los Angeles City Fire Department spokesman.
It took eight fire companies 2 1/2 hours to clean up the deluge, which began when the sprinkler on the 10th floor spilled water into the ninth and eighth floors. The water damaged furniture and carpeting, the Fire Department spokesman Larry Ford said.
Ford said it has not been determined why the sprinkler broke.
The mall section of the Galleria in the 4700 block of Sepulveda Boulevard was not involved. The office building is adjacent to the mall.
