Walton Is Probable for Clippers Tonight
OAKLAND — Clipper center Bill Walton, who has spent the last six games on the injured list, has been re-activated and will likely see action tonight when the Clippers meet the Golden State Warriors in an 8 o’clock game.
Even with Walton back, the Clippers aren’t at full strength. Rookie forward Jay Murphy, who has seen considerable playing time recently, will be out for at least five games when it was discovered that he has been playing with a partially torn cartilage in his right knee.
Murphy will have arthoscopic surgery Tuesday. The Clippers have signed 6-10 Dale Wilkinson to a 10-day contract to replace Murphy. Wilkinson was playing for the Wisconsin Flyers of the Continental Basketball Assn. and had played two games for Detroit earlier in the season.
The Clippers have lost four straight and 15 of their last 18 games. Included in that have been 10 straight road losses.
