Paint Splattered on Home, Car of County Animal Control Chief
The home and automobile of Brian Berger, director of the Los Angeles County Animal Control and Care Department, was splattered with red paint early Sunday, and a woman who said she spoke for the Animal Liberation Front claimed responsibility.
But later in the day another woman who also claimed to represent the ALF denied that her organization had anything to do with the attack.
A local news wire service said the first caller identified herself as a member of the ALF and said Berger’s car was doused and the letters “ALF” inscribed on the front of his house to protest the county’s sale of impounded animals for medical research.
The second caller, however, told The Times that the ALF--which admitted stealing 100 animals from the City of Hope last December--was not involved because “We do not attack personal property.”
