An East San Diego apartment building sustained an estimated $50,000 damage Sunday morning when it was swept by a fire believed set by an arsonist, the Fire Department reported. Two parking garages below the four-unit building in the 5900 block of University Avenue were substantially damaged, and two of the units suffered minor damage, Fire Department spokesman Larry Stewart said.
