Boy, 8, Hurt in Buena Clinton Shooting; 2 Brothers Arrested
An 8-year-old boy was shot in the leg Sunday in the Buena Clinton area of Garden Grove when two men tried to shoot a third man and missed, police said.
Buena Clinton residents Everada Medina, 18, and Armando Medina, 20, who are brothers, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder Saturday night, Sgt. Scott Hamilton said.
Two men had argued with another man in Buena Clinton earlier Saturday afternoon and apparently returned at about 7:15 p.m., police said.
They allegedly tried to run over the third man with a car but failed, police said. The two men then shot at their victim, Hamilton said. He was not hit, but a bullet hit the boy, who was not identified, in the leg. Police said the boy was in stable condition at UCI Medical Center.
Police could not say how many shots were fired or by whom, and the type of gun used was not known. The shooting occurred in the 12600 block of Sunswept Avenue, Lt. Larry Hodges said. Officers in the Buena Clinton task force arrested the Medina brothers soon afterward in the 12600 block of Morningside Drive. They were booked into Orange County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail each.
