JOHANNESBURG, South Africa — Police said today that they found the charred body of a black policeman who was first strangled and then set afire, apparently by black radicals who oppose cooperation with the white minority government.
The discovery brought the weekend death toll from mob violence in South Africa to 10. The policeman’s body was found in the black township of Motherwell, near Port Elizabeth in violence-torn eastern Cape Province.
