A strict dusk-to-dawn curfew has been imposed on the northern Nigerian town of Gombe, where about 100 people have been killed in religious riots, the government of Nigeria’s Bauchi state said. “Anyone found outside his house between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. will be regarded as a fanatic and will be shot on sight,” the government statement said. The curfew followed two days of fighting between police and members of the Maitatsine, a banned Islamic sect. Most of the sect’s members are fleeing the town, the statement said.
