The Guardian Angels have opened the first of four suburban branches planned for Los Angeles neighborhoods. The citizens’ protection group, founded in New York City, earlier opened a chapter in downtown Los Angeles. Scott McKeown, Los Angeles County coordinator, said that 21 men and 22 women will work in the new Westside chapter, having completed two months of training patrols in West Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Venice and Culver City. “We’ve prevented all kinds of situations,” he said.
