Valencia orange prices rose last week.

The increased prices were attributed, local growers say, to an order by the federal government restricting the number of oranges sold. The average price for a carton of oranges was $7.26 last week, compared to an average $6.65 a week earlier, said Stephen Shadle, a grower member of the Valencia Orange Administrative Committee. A year ago, the price of Valencia oranges was $6.66 a carton.
