Santa Ana police chased at high speed a man who earlier had fired several shots from a high-powered rifle at a home and apprehended him after the suspect was involved in a minor accident. A police spokesman said Jesus Gonzalez had fired several shots from the 30.06 rifle at a residence on East 14th Street in Santa Ana during a family dispute. After police arrived at the house, Gonzalez ran with his rifle, got in a car and led police on a high-speed chase on the Santa Ana and Orange freeways before he collided with another vehicle, left the car he was driving and took off running. He was apprehended in a lot adjacent to the 57 Freeway. The spokesman said he was booked into the Orange County Jail and charges were still pending.
