Sirens to Be Silenced: After this month, Anaheim residents will not hear the monthly 10-second air raid siren tests that had cost the city almost $7,000 per year. Because federal funding for the alert program have been discontinued, city officials will stop the tests after June 28. Had Anaheim, the only city in Orange County that operates a full-scale monthly warning test program, continued the program, it also would have needed about $240,000 to replace the 20-year-old equipment.
