Philharmonic Gets $290,000

WASHINGTON — More than $9.3 million in federal matching grants is going to 157 symphony and chamber orchestras, including a top award of $290,000 to the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the National Endowment for the Arts announced today.
Also receiving $290,000 were the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic and the San Francisco Symphony, all for the 1985-86 performance season.
