Orange : Drivers in Orange Urged to Take Extra Precautions
Police have urged drivers who travel through downtown Orange to take extra precautions as workers renovate some major streets.
As a result of receiving “a lot of calls and complaints,” Orange police are asking drivers to be cautious of workers, open trenches and equipment that may not be readily visible from Cypress and Chapman avenues to Center Street and Chapman, Police Sgt. John Higley said.
Because traffic has been rerouted since Tuesday, temporarily narrowed roads have been congested with slow-moving vehicles, Higley said.
Glassell Street, at Chapman Avenue, is open for both northbound and southbound traffic but is heavily congested, Higley said.
Until construction is completed next Monday, police are asking drivers to avoid sudden spurts and stops, to follow the directions of workers with flags and to “be patient.”
