Council Pay Raises on Agenda: A 5% pay raise for City Council members that would be effective immediately and an 11% raise effective next May will come before the five-member body for a vote tonight. Council members now are paid $255 a month for their services. If approved, a pay raise to $268 a month would be enacted immediately. State law permits cities with populations of less than 35,000 to pay their council members up to $300 a month, and the vote tonight could raise council salaries to that level after the next city election, to be held in April.
