Surplus Food Distribution Slated
A federal surplus food distribution will begin Thursday in the San Fernando Valley. People who are unemployed, have low incomes or receive public assistance are eligible to receive a five-pound package of cheese and one other food commodity per household.
Those wishing to receive food should take identification, proof of income and a bag with them to a distribution center. Distribution will begin at 9 a.m. at each center.
Distribution for senior citizens only will take place at the these addresses:
Pacoima: San Fernando Valley Interfaith, Pacoima Multipurpose Center at 12550 Van Nuys Blvd.
Sunland: Sunland Senior Citizen Center at 8640 Fenwick St.
Reseda: West Valley Senior Center at 18411 Victory Blvd. and Reseda Senior Multipurpose Center at 7222 Reseda Blvd.
Sylmar: Sylmar Recreation Center at 13109 Borden Ave.
Van Nuys: Mid-Valley Senior Center at 14550 Valerio St.
Northridge: Wilkinson Multipurpose Center at 8956 Vanalden Ave.
Canoga Park: Canoga Park Senior Center at 7326 Jordan Ave.
North Hollywood: WACHS Multipurpose Center at 5000 Colfax Ave.
Public distribution centers are:
Pacoima: Home Visitation Center at 13618 Van Nuys Blvd. and MEND, 13443 Van Nuys Blvd.
San Fernando: Santa Rosa Community Project at 511 Kalisher St.
Canoga Park: Guadalupe Youth Center at 21600 Hart St. and El Centro de Amistad, 22019 Vanowen St.
Arleta: Japanese-American Community Center at 12953 Branford St.
Sun Valley: Sun Valley Park at 8133 Vineland Ave.
