San Diego
Three armed men wearing Halloween masks held up a wholesale drug warehouse in Clairemont Thursday morning and escaped with miscellaneous narcotics common in street use, San Diego police said.
The robbers struck the Drug Service Inc. at 8051 Vickers Road about 6 a.m. and locked six employees in the company’s vault. Police said the men carried an Uzi-type submachine gun, a handgun and a shotgun. The employees were freed 30 minutes later.
The robbers did not take any money, police said. There was no estimate of the value of the drugs taken by the robbers.
Lt. Lee Sanford said police speculate that the holdup is one of the “supermarket series” in which 11 supermarkets and liquor stores have been hit since February. The supermarket bandits usually carried an Uzi.
