Accident Snarls Freeway: Two lanes of the Riverside Freeway in Anaheim were closed for three hours Thursday because an industrial fruit juicer carried on a flatbed trailer became jammed beneath the Placentia Avenue overpass, California Highway Patrol officials reported. The truck’s load was six inches higher than the 15-foot, 6-inch clearance of the overpass, according to the CHP. Walter O. Lewis, 63, was driving the rig about 25 m.p.h. and was uninjured in the accident. Workmen let air out of the vehicle’s tires to help the trailer clear the overpass, officials said. The 3:40 p.m. accident snarled rush-hour traffic and caused about $200,000 in damage, mostly to the overpass.
