MCI said it plans to adjust private circuit rates.

The company said it will restructure the rates that it charges the 1,500 corporate and government customers who use MCI Communications’ private circuits. Reductions will range from 2% for a 220-mile circuit to 34% on a 2,000-mile line. Rates for circuits running less than 200 miles will increase 4%. At the same time, MCI will start billing customers separately for costs that local phone companies charge for connecting a customer’s office to the nearest MCI office. These local rates vary from state to state.
