San Diego Penney Store Renovated
The J C Penney store in San Diego’s Fashion Valley celebrated a “grand reopening” Wednesday to mark completion of its renovation and expansion by Payne Construction. The floor space of the store at Friars and Fashion Valley roads near Interstate 8 was increased from 135,000 to 173,000 square feet
The project is part of a $1-billion program by J C Penney to modernize all its large department stores in the next five years. More than 500 stores are included in the program at an average cost of $3 million. The Fashion Valley store, which operated during the remodeling, is the first to be renovated in San Diego County.
