Both Ends Burning Heads Field for the Eddie Read Handicap
DEL MAR — A field of seven headed by Both Ends Burning was entered to run in today’s $150,000-added Eddie Read Handicap at Del Mar.
Both Ends Burning will be ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye and was assigned high weight of 123 pounds for the 1 1/8-mile race on Del Mar’s turf course.
Both Ends Burning set a course record for Del Mar’s 1 1/16 mile turf course late last month with a 1:41 1/5 clocking in an allowance race. The 5-year-old gelding was also assigned 123 pounds in that race.
Others entered in the event for 3-year-olds and up were Dahar, who will be ridden by Chris McCarron and was assigned 122 pounds; Tsunami Slew, Gary Stevens, 119 pounds; Drumalis, Laffit Pincay, 119 pounds; Al Mamoon, Randy Romero, 118 pounds, Fatih, Rafael Meza, 117 pounds, and Aras An Uachtarain, Fernando Toro, 113 pounds.
If all seven entries go to the post in the 12th running of the race, the total purse will be $166,300 and the winner will earn $98,800.
