Local News in Brief : Tree Trimmers Cause 2 Brief Power Outages
Tree trimmers caused two power outages Thursday morning that left 1,600 homes in Woodland Hills without electricity for more than an hour, a Department of Water and Power spokeswoman said.
The incidents occurred when tools used by a private tree trimmer touched electrical wires, DWP spokeswoman Elizabeth Wimmer said.
She said the first outage began on Providencia Street at 10:14 and lasted 71 minutes and the second began on Topanga Canyon Boulevard at 10:49 a.m. and lasted 76 minutes.
Each outage affected 800 customers, Wimmer said.
