Santa Fe Springs
A 45-day moratorium on the establishment of teen-age dance clubs in Santa Fe Springs has been approved to give the city time to develop zoning regulations for such clubs.
The City Council adopted the moratorium after an inquiry by the operators of Florentine Gardens in Hollywood about establishing such a club in the city, said Frank Latham, assistant city manager. Santa Fe Springs has no teen dance clubs and no ordinance governing them.
The study by city staff members is to include guidelines on hours of operation, ages to be admitted and type, size and location of club. City officials said they are also concerned about law enforcement and community problems that might result from a teen disco.
