Dodgers Missed the Boat When Pedro Missed Game
I am appalled that the Dodger organization had the audacity to fine Pedro Guerrero $7,000 for missing a game. First of all, very few, including me, believed the strike would be settled in two days.
I think it is very admirable of Pedro to love his mother enough to want to go see her in the middle of the season. Ninety-nine out of 100 players could go see their mothers and get back in 24 hours. It is not Pedro’s fault the plane service is so lousy in his country and his home is so far away.
The thing that appalls me most is how far the Dodger organization went for Steve Howe, but they could not overlook a little mishap like that for Pedro, who is a very valuable player.
