San Juan Capistrano
No Liquor at Gas Stations: Eager to get the jump on filling-station operators who might want to sell alcoholic beverages along with gasoline, wiper blades and motor oil, San Juan Capistrano’s city fathers tonight are expected to give final approval to an ordinance banning liquor sales at gasoline stations. Although the city has no gas station mini-marts like those popping up in other cities, San Juan Capistrano officials say they want to discourage the idea of liquor sales at any future such outlets in the city. Tentatively approved by a unanimous vote Aug. 17, the new law, if approved, would take effect Oct. 3.
