Laguna Beach
Hearing on Liquor Law: Following the lead of several other Orange County cities that have already enacted ordinances prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages at service stations, the Laguna Beach City Council will conduct a public hearing Tuesday night and vote on a similar law. Only one gas station in Laguna Beach sells alcoholic beverages, according to city officials. Although the station’s owners agreed to quit selling alcohol as a condition for the granting of a building permit, Laguna Beach wants to discourage other service stations from selling alcohol. If approved by the council, the ordinance will come back for a final vote Oct. 1 and could become law 30 days later.
