Orrin B. Evans; USC Law Dean
A memorial service has been scheduled Oct. 11 for Orrin B. Evans, dean emeritus of the USC Law Center, who died of a heart attack last Monday in Laguna Hills.
Evans was 75 and had retired in 1980.
He directed a $3.2-million fund-raising campaign at USC that resulted in today’s Law Center. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin with an advanced law degree from Yale, Evans was a prolific author of legal treatises who was named dean of the Law Center in 1963 and returned to full-time teaching in 1968.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, two sons and a daughter.
The memorial will be held at 3:30 p.m. in Town and Gown on the USC campus. Norman Topping, USC’s chancellor emeritus, and several judges and former colleagues will speak.
